Dieter Meier, born in 1945, began his artistic career as a performance artist and experimental film maker. Since 1969 his work has been shown at film festivals and art exhibitions, such as Kunstmuseum Luzern, 1970, documenta 5 in Kassel, 1972, Kunsthaus Zurich, 1976, Museum Tinguely Basel, 2007, and Collection Falckenberg/Deichtorhallen, Hamburg, 2011.
In 1979 he co-founded the music group Yello with Boris Blank. Considered pioneers of electronic music, they are still internationally successful today. Dieter Meier has won various awards for his prolific output of music videos.
He has published numerous literary works: in 2006 Hermes Baby, a collection of stories and essays by Ammann Verlag, in 2011 Out of Chaos–an autobiographical picture book by Edel Verlag, and the monograph Works 1968-2011 and the Yello Years by Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König, Cologne.
