The publication Tata Ronkholz: Trinkhallen was reviewed this week in a five-minute feature on German public radio station NDR Kultur. The segment, which aired on May 18, offered listeners an evocative introduction to Ronkholz’s photographic exploration of Germany’s kiosk culture—a fading but once-ubiquitous aspect of daily life.
In the radio review, cultural journalist Janek Wiechers guided audiences through the nostalgic atmosphere of the book, which gathers approximately 130 images of Trinkhallen—small, independently run kiosks photographed by Ronkholz between 1977 and 1984. The segment reflected on the aesthetic, social, and cultural layers captured in the images, while also highlighting Ronkholz’s quiet but significant legacy as a photographer.
The book was co-published by Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther und Franz König and Zander Galerie, while also accompanying the exhibition at Zander Galerie under the same title.
