Joanna Piotrowska: A moment of darkness at noon.

The Common Guild, Glasgow, UK

A moment of darkness at noon builds on Piotrowska’s ongoing exploration of both her own and others’ unconscious, informed by Jungian psychoanalysis and an interest in intuitive, pre-verbal modes of communication. Drawing on photographs from the artist’s family archive alongside newly created imagery, the layered collages emerge from fragmented memories and dreamlike associations. Nudes, landscapes, enlarged rock formations, and closely cropped faces converge within an enigmatic, hallucinatory realm where meaning remains fluid. Together, these elements chart a liminal space suspended between memory, dreams, and the unconscious mind.
