Zander Galerie is pleased to present its first solo exhibition with work by American photographer Clark Winter. Spanning several decades, the exhibition Untold Stories brings together works from 1970 through 2017, offering an overview of an oeuvre shaped by sustained observation and experience.

Clark Winter developed his photographic practice alongside a long career in international finance, living and working across Europe, Latin America, and the United States. Throughout decades of global travel, he continuously photographed – always carrying a camera. His work emerges from an intuitive engagement with the world, guided less by predefined subjects than by a sustained attentiveness to what unfolds in front of him. As Winter notes; „The world is what’s interesting to me. As one looks with curiosity the world reveals more, and the more fascinating it then becomes. “

This openness is reflected in the breadth of his imagery, which ranges from chance encounters and vernacular objects to fleeting human gestures and atmospheres of place. Whether observing the slowed rhythms of Southern European life in the 1970s or responding to the particularities of urban and rural environments, Winter’s photographs remain attentive to shifts in tempo, space, and social presence.

Across decades and geographies, Winter’s photographs articulate a quiet, observational form of storytelling – one that engages human behavior, cultural nuance, and memory through an enduring commitment to looking.
