Zander Galerie is pleased to present American Arbor, an exhibition of large-scale photographs by Mitch Epstein, spanning the last two decades. Bringing together selected images of trees from American Power, Hoh Rain Forest, and his most recent series Old Growth, the show traces Epstein’s sustained exploration of the relationship between landscape and culture in the United States. From trees standing near energy production sites and in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, to the moss-covered density of Olympic National Park in Washington and the commanding presence of ancient specimens across the country, these towering works reveal how trees become witnesses to systems of power, indicators of environmental vulnerability, and symbols of endurance.
