Massimo Vitali

Zander Galerie is delighted to show the first solo exhibition with works by Italian photographer Massimo Vitali. 
Featuring a selection of works spanning nearly three decades, the exhibition 94/22 explores the artists signature large-scale color images most commonly of Italian (beach) life, which reveal far more than idyllic coastal scenes. 
Massimo Vitali delves into the underlying social dynamics of leisure, from its commodification to the pressures of conformity, offering a commentary on modern society set against the backdrop of the Mediterranean. Born in Como, Italy in 1944, Massimo Vitali came to photography in his late teens, before starting to make use of large-scale photography and initiating his most recognizable Beach Series in 1994.
