Farewell Joe Goode (1937-2025)

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of artist Joe Goode

Joe Goode, born in Oklahoma City in 1937, was one of the seminal figures in the development of the Californian art scene. Alongside Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and Ed Ruscha, Goode’s work was included in the groundbreaking exhibit New Painting of Common Objects, which is considered the first museum exhibition of Pop Art in the United States.

In 2019, Zander Galerie had the privilege of collaborating with Joe Goode and Ed Ruscha on Yesterday’s Treasures, and an accompanying publication. As with so much of his work, Joe pushed the boundaries of perception. Inspired by natural phenomena, he explored the experience of seeing between representation and abstraction.

Contemplating on the forces of nature in his work, Joe Goode himself was an artistic force and an unforgettable artist who will be missed by his friends and the art world alike.
